Authorities in a remote northern Saskatchewan community locked down a high school Friday afternoon amid reports of an “active shooter” at the school, CTV News in Canada reported.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police confirmed they are investigating a “serious incident.” The Independent and the Associated Press reported that two people are dead.
The school is in La Loche, a remote town about 370 miles north of Saskatoon. It is near the border with Alberta.
“Parents and community members are asked to not attend the Dene High School at this time due to the active, ongoing incident,” police said.
