Life on Mars? Microbes can survive in simulated Martian conditions for weeks

In simulated conditions, microbes were able to stay alive for up to 21 days
It is theoretically possible for Mars to support microbes, a new study has found.
Biologists from the University of Arkansas found that four methanogens – types of microbe that produce methane – could survive for up to 21 days in lab conditions similar to the Martian environment.
“This research is an important stepping-stone to determining if methanogens can actively metabolize/grow under these low pressures,” the researchers say in their paper,
