Decomposing body found by fishermen off the coast of the Philippines
The mummified body of a German round-the-world sailor has been found on board his yacht by fishermen off the coast of the Philippines.
Manfred Fritz Bajorat had been out of contact with friends for more than a year. It is not known when he died, but it is believed the dry, salty conditions at sea contributed to the preservation of his corpse.
A Filipino fisherman boarded the yacht after spotting it half submerged 60 miles from the coast and found the sailor’s remains “slumped next to the ship’s radio telephone”, reports the Daily Telegraph.
