When you think of Christmas you probably think of gifts, caroling, Christmas movies, snow, green trees, lights, Santa, stockings, cookies, and Jesus’ birthday. But was Jesus actually born on December 25th, and if he was, is it a coincidence that he shares his birthday with other Sun gods such as Dionysus, Krishna, Attis, Mithra(s), and many others? In the case of Jesus, January 6th was typically the date given to his supposed birth. The 6th of January is the Feast of Epiphany, one of the Church’s earliest established feasts, and some Eastern Churches still hold this date as the birth and baptism of the Christ. Eventually they adopted December 25th as the birthday and later they included the baptism. However, the Armenian Church still celebrates his birth on January 6th.

Some Church fathers did not agree with the concept of a dated birthday as they related this to pagan gods. David Fideler writes in Jesus Christ Sun of God ofJanuary 6th that it was “…the main festival of the Roman divinity Janus…” who “also represents the rebirth of the cyclical year an the renewal of time. Before the adoption of Decembers 25 as the birthday of Jesus the Spiritual Sun, the Nativity was celebrated on January 6, the day of ‘Epiphany’ or ‘manifestation’ of the Lord.” David also writes in his book that, “January 6 was also the date of Dionysian win miracles. Water drawn from the Nile on this day was said to turn to wine…”

Certain Church fathers such as Clement of Alexandria (c.150-c.215) favored May 20th, while Hippolytus (c.170-c.236) wanted January 2nd. November 17, November 20, and March 25, were all considered as well. With all of this arguing and deciding what day goes where, it is any wonder how people can argue now that Christianity is not a strictly manufactured religion. March 21st was also a date considered as it was believed this was the date God created the Sun. [Author shakes head in shame of human race] One bishop, Polycarp (c.69-c.155), also attempted to reason that Christ’s birth and baptism were likely on a Wednesday, because god created the Sun on the fourth day.

The eventual choice of December 25th was chosen and thus the pagan sun gods were officially vindicated as the Church identified God’s son with the celestial Sun.

December 25th was an important date in Rome during this time anyway as it was already Mithras’ birthday – Sol Invictus. Due to pagans exalting their deities with strict parallels to the later formulated Jesus, although relating to personifications of one deity, the Church decided to make the 25th his birthday in order to ease the transition from cults of Mithraism, for example, to Christianity. The Pagans, however, were not worshipers of the multitudes of deities, as many believe. In fact, they were monotheists to some extent simply honoring different aspects of nature in that of gods that stemed from one divine source – the goddess.

The newly selected date was thus commemorated with a celebratory feast, Christmas, initiated by the Roman Emperor Constantine who declared Christianity the empire’s formal religion in the early fourth century. This was the first Christmas essentially, but it wasn’t for a couple of years after, when Pope Julius I declared Christmas to be permanently celebrated on December 25th. The Church of Jerusalem interestingly enough didn’t officially celebrate the date until at least the seventh century.

Pope Constantine, as noted, was also a member of a Sun cult and essentially used Christians to build a social system that was easier to control, in my view. This is the same Constantine who in 317AD claimed to have been healed of his leprosy by the Christian god and asked to be baptized. As a reward, he supposedly granted huge tracts of land to the established church and confirmed the seat of the Roman Bishop as the capital of Christianity. The only problem is, the Donation of Constantine was proven a forgery in the 15th century and yet the Vatican still stands.

In the 16th century, Pope Gregory created a new calendar parallel to the Julian calendar, which meant that Christmas was celebrated thirteen days earlier than those of the Gregorian denomination. This is the calendar we follow today and December 25th is the day when most of us celebrate the birth of Jesus based on the Gregorian calendar. It is the birth of the celestial sun of god and not a physical son.

Now that we know why December 25th was selected to be the date of the birthday celebration for Jesus, due to the already present celebrations of Mithras’ birthday during this time, it then becomes appropriate to ask why December 25th was used as a celebratory date for Mithra and so many other gods to begin? The answer has to do with the Sun.

Throughout the year, the Sun moves through a cycle within what we call the Wheel of the Year, which is divided into four sections by a cross. This ‘Wheel’ is composed of the 12 houses of the zodiac and the ancients depicted the Sun as a man who grew older as the seasons changed and the ‘Wheel’ turned. He was a baby during the end of winter when he was born, bringing light back to the world and saving it from darkness. He was seen as a fully-grown man in June during the Summer Solstice and from this point on the Sun begins to age until the point of old age during the start of the winter months when he died again before being reborn.

The story of Jesus is that he dies on a cross and is dead for three days in a tomb before being resurrected, a celebration that was later celebrated as Easter. This was the time when the light of the Sun overtakes the Dark, and thus, days become longer than nights.

As the Sun moves through this cycle it can be seen sinking in the Northern hemisphere until its death on December 21st, which is the Winter Solstice. During this time the Sun perceptually stops moving as it lowers into the Southern part of the Northern hemisphere and ‘dies’ in the vicinity of the Southern Crux constellation. The Sun then rests in this position for three days on the horizon of the Earth. Surpassing the three days, the Sun begins to move North by a few degrees and is thus re(born) on December 25th.

It can then be said that the Son/Sun dies on the Cross/Southern Crux Constellation, is dead for three days in the tomb/Earth, and is then resurrected/reborn on December 25th.

The story of Jesus continues that he was born of a virgin in Bethlehem with a star that signified his birth. His birth was attended by many, including three wise men whom followed that star to the birth of the new baby.

When the Sun is born/resurrected on December 25th it resides in the constellation Virgo the Virgin. The anthropomorphized image of the constellation is a virgin holding a sheath of wheat and this therefore relates to bread. The reason bread is important here is because Bethlehem, the supposed location of Jesus’ birth, translates to the zodiacal ‘House of Bread’. This bread also refers to the bread consumed at the ‘Last Supper’. The star signifying his birth is Sirius and the three Wise Men are the three stars of Orion’s Belt. On December 25th, the three stars of Orion’s Belt align to follow Sirius to the birth of the Sun.

Therefore it can be said the Sun/Son was born on December 25th of the Virgin/Virgo in Bethlehem, the House of Bread or Virgo Constellation.  The three Wise Men/Orions’s Belt, known as the three Kings in ancient times, then followed a bright star, Sirius, to the birth of the Sun/Son on that date.

Astrologically it is also relevant that the Sun enters each sign of the zodiac at 30 degrees and such the ministry of Jesus begins at around age 30 according to Acharya S in her book The Christ Conspiracy. She also adds that, “The Sun is the ‘Carpenter’ who builds his daily ‘houses’ or 12 two-hour divisions.” She says that, “As the mythos developed, it took the form of a play, with a cast of characters, including the 12 divisions of the sky called the signs or constellations of the zodiac. The symbols that typified these 12 celestial sections of 30º each were not based on what the constellations actually look like but represent aspects of earthly life. Thus the ancient peoples were able to incorporate these earthly aspects into the mythos and project them onto the all important celestial screen.”

Prior to Pope Julius I or Emperor Constantine denoting December 25th to be the birth of Jesus, most Romans celebrated the birth of Mithras, Sol Invictus – the unconquered Sun. They also celebrated the festival of Saturnalia, in honor of the god of agriculture, Saturn, for which Saturday was named.

As the Sun brings light and life to the world, Saturn brings destruction to the material world in the form of the exact opposite of the Sun, which is why Saturn is seen as the Black Sun. Sunday is of course named after the Sun as it is supposedly God’s day.

The Saturnalia festival was a celebration of nature, agriculture, and fertility. It was a celebration that included feasts, dancing, drinking, and the giving out of gifts as blessing in the same way the Three Wise Men (Three Kings) carried gifts to Jesus, or that the Sun gives us the gift of warmth and light.

Christmas(s) comes from Christ and Mass, signifying the anointed one (Christ) and a large gathering in worship or honor (Mass). It should not be misunderstood that by using terms such as Black Sun or Saturn in association with Satan, that this represents the iconic nature of some Devil figure whom is always trying to create destruction literally. The destruction is a necessary ‘evil’ in the world that must be compared to the ‘creation’ of the Sun in providing ‘life giving’ rays that allow vegetation to grow on the Earth; it thus revives the Earth from the destruction of Saturn/Satan or the death of Mother Earth in the dark Winter Months when the Son/Sun dies. When the Son/Sun is born or resurrected again he brings light back to the world to save Mother Earth, which in turn saves mankind.

Since Christmas or Saturnalia is a celebration of nature, resurrection, birth, fertility, and the Winter Solstice, they are also extensions of the yearly Sabbat known as Yule (December 20-23rd). This is why Yule logs are burnt during Christmas and it was the Norse whom originally burnt these logs in order to ward off evil spirits during the winter months. They were burnt to keep their homes safe in the same manner as pumpkins are used to ward off evil spirits during the Sabbat known as Samhain, what we know as Halloween (more on this later). It is also interesting to note that the word Yule relates to a ‘wheel’ as in the Wheel of the Year or the changing of the seasons.

Saturnalia/Yule is a celebration of the physical, material world in association with Saturn, the Black Sun, or Lord of Chaos and destruction, albeit a necessary destruction or ‘evil’ leading to a moment of rebirth. This concept was actually a component part of the Saturnalia celebrations where the lower echelons or slaves would become lords or masters for the day in a chaotic changing of the guard. This represented the changing of control celestially from Saturn/Satan to the Sun/Son of the heavenly, spiritual spheres. This altering of the order of rules was practiced as the Lords of Misrule and is strongly related to the distortion and alteration of life by the trickster we discussed earlier.

In remembrance and honor of nature, ancient celebrants of Yule chose to use vegetation as a way to symbolically remind them that once the cold, dark winter was over that crops would begin to grow once more. It was mainly a Germanic tradition derived from ancient pagan worship of evergreen trees that produced the modern form of the Christmas tree. The tree is also symbolic of a pyramid with a star or illuminated eye at the top such as the unfinished pyramid with all Seeing Eye of RA or Horus as discussed previously.

The Germans actually made Christmas pyramids that they decorated with fruit and gifts of and to nature. There is also Polish tradition of placing evergreen branches on their ceilings in remembrance of nature.

The Christian Paradise Tree also became popular as it was decorated with fruits like apples and pastries. The apple and the tree can thus relate back into Christian belief about the Garden of Eden, also known much earlier in Sumeria as ED.IN, and the tree of ‘good’ and ‘evil’ as the Garden was a state of Paradise for man. This relates directly to the Paradise Tree and even the mystic Jewish Kabbalah.

The tree can also be related to the World Tree that Odin was hanged (he was also pierced by a spear like Jesus). The connection can thus be made to Attis being tied to a tree and later this translated to Orpheus being crucified on a cross like Jesus. All of these scenarios thus directly relate to the Zodiac Wheel and the cross divisions of the houses.

Some of these traditions originated in Babylon with the worship of Nimrod the Great Hunter who is of course Osiris in the previously told story of him returning from a hunt. This is also important in the origins of Valentines Day, a Roman fertility festival known as Lupercalia, as we will discuss later. As Osiris is the god of agriculture he is depicted also as the Green Man, which thus directly relates to the veneration of nature by the ancients.

Holly was also used in celebration and veneration of nature. Holly is green with red berries, the traditional colors of Christmas, and it has little prickly ends that symbolically represent the phallus in relation to fertility. Holly was brought into homes to honor the spirits of nature. The red signifies the blood or wine of Jesus, Bacchus or Dionysus.

The Romans used Holly during their Saturnalia celebrations and it might be that the act of putting up the tree somewhat stemmed from the use of Mistletoe, which was also used by the Romans. In myth the Norse god Balder was struck down by mistletoe.

Mistletoe and Holly both are natural forms of living vegetation that were used to venerate nature in remembrance during the death of the Earth during winter. In the book World Mythology by Donna Rosenberg, she writes, “Balder is one of a number of fertility gods in various mythologies who are killed, go down to the Underworld, and then come back to life. The pattern of life, death, and resurrection reflects the annual, cyclical pattern in nature of birth (spring), maturity (summer), death (autumn and winter), and rebirth (the following spring).”

Screen Shot 2015-12-16 at 11.49.06 AM.pngScreen Shot 2015-12-16 at 11.49.10 AM.pngAnother icon of Christmas is the figure known as Santa Clause who was helped further into American culture by Macy’s department store. The English know him as Father Christmas and in Europe he is known as Sinter Klass or Sint Nicolaas, based off of Saint Nicholas. In the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, and Austria, Santa was known as Sankt Nikolaus and in Italy his name was San Nicola, which is similar to Coca Cola, a brand strongly promoted by the character. The Dutch refer to him also as Saint Nicholas, which is similar to Sinter Klaus and the figure we now call Santa Clause.

Screen Shot 2015-12-16 at 11.49.16 AM.pngThe figure known as Saint Nicholas was also known as Nikolaos of Myra, a Christian saint and Greek Bishop in modern day Turkey in the fourth century, which was around the time when Christmas was first being celebrated. Because of the miracles he supposedly performed he became known as Nikolaos the Wonderworker. His portfolio included giving gifts secretly and putting coins in shoes, and thus the origins of Santa giving gifts and sometimes placing them in stockings began. His day of feast was interestingly held in early December (usually the 6th). Sinter Klass was depicted with a large hat, similar to the Pope’s Mitre hat based off of Mithraism and fish worship; also relating to the Age of Pisces. This fish symbolism also relates to the worship of the fish god Oannes of the Dogon tribe in Mali, Africa. The Mali believed their gods came from the Sirius star system that they knew before modern science was a binary star system. We thus get a direct correlation back to Sirius and the star followed to the birth of Jesus by the Three Wise Men or Kings of Orion.

The robes of Sinter Klass were gold, red, and white, similar to the red Maltese crosses and white robes worn by the Papal, Knights Templar and Screen Shot 2015-12-16 at 11.49.22 AM
Essenes of which Jesus was affiliated. It is the modern day image of Santa, which is simply a rebranding of past saints and characters. As Santa is an icon of Christmas, a Roman celebration of Saturnalia, it is appropriate for Santa to wear displayed attributes of Saturn. Both Saturn and the Greek Kronos have long white beards as they are the Fathers of time, planting the time-laden seeds of our destruction, which is relevant considering he is the god of agriculture. The Norse god Oidn is heavily borrowed from, too, as he lives in the North (Pole) and has a white beard in some depictions in the same way as the Central American god Quetzalcoatl who also wore white robes with red. The red is further connected to Christmas due to the association with blood and the connection with Saturn, another version of Satan.

Odin not only lives in the North and has a white beard, but also rides an eight-legged horse named Sleipnir, derived from Old Norse meaning ‘slippy’ or ‘sliding’. Here we thus have the origins of Santa’s eight reindeer. The white beard is further symbolized in the Matrix movies given to the Architect, which represents Saturn – the architect of the illusory physical world. This same beard is further associated with God as most depictions display a man in white robes with a white beard; this is Saturn, Kronos, Odin, Satan, the Grand Architect, etc.

The story would not be complete either without the opposing force of Santa known as Krampus in certain Germanic folk-lore. He is a sort of holiday ‘devil’. Instead of rewarding children with presents he punishes children whom misbehaved during the year. He is very popular especially in regions of Europe, but is also known similarly in certain parts of Austria. This idea of reward and punishment by opposing forces is at the heart of most major religions and mystery schools as is the concept of black and white or the Yin Yang. Santa’s ‘naughty’ or ‘nice’ list also plays into this story.

What has essentially happened is that the concepts of duality have been taken and either intentionally or not given character attributes and used to keep people afraid of being punished (hell) and hopeful of being rewarded (heaven) in a type of mass hypnosis.

It’s amazing how much we lead on our kids with notions of Santa Clause coming to give us presents. Sure, it sounds like a fun game you play, but I think there is a slightly darker side – darker because it is unseen and relatively unknown, and because the true meaning of the holidays have been stripped for commercial aspects in complete disregard for nature. I don’t see how rational people can believe that if they fill their child’s mind with the notions of Santa that the child won’t realize they’ve been lied too eventually and that this may cause a deeper psychological chain reaction. Perhaps I have thought on the subject for far too long, but personally I see this obsession with these mythical characters dark only because we do not know, care to know, or understand their origins. Therefore you are investing substantial energy in the direction of your attention to symbols that you ignorantly display during the holiday (holyday), yet have no idea of their true meaning. This is stunning ignorance that stems from arrogance and is the basis for being essentially ‘dead’.

Modern Christmas is a mocking of ancient traditions especially with children upset because they didn’t get everything they wanted, or because they only got last year’s iPod and not this year’s newest version.  It’s part of a larger issue dealing with corporate sponsored advertising and industrial consumerism. Even if you have absolutely no thoughts as to what you have currently read, think about the tremendous amount of money, time, and energy, put into preparing for the Holy-Days. We focus strictly on material objects while few focus on family, and even that is not the origins of this Holy-Day. It is about venerating nature, not casting nature aside with fake trees and cheap gifts that have no underlying meaning. The only parts of the ancient celebrations that stay the same are people getting drunk and partying.

Further, it is truly the height of ignorance to vest so much time, attention, and energy, to a subject and then openly reject its origins. It is ignorance out of arrogance once more to think ‘I want my kid to have a good childhood’. Well, great, if that’s really what you want, then how about you take the time educating yourself so that you can educate them. Create your own traditions rather than ignorantly stealing ones that already exist. Put some thought into your beliefs and stop blindly believing traditions based on faith that they are wholesome.

One particular motif of Christmas celebrations other than the five-pointed Venus/Lucifer star on the green Saturn Tree, is the lights most of us decorate with. These lights of course refer to illumination, fire, and even rebirth of a new. These lights also, in relation to the mass ignorance around the origins of the days you celebrate so blindly as Holi-Days, are essentially ‘false’ lights displayed by the trickster to trick us into a game called the Lords of Misrule. Instead of us the Master making the decisions in our own lives we instead relinquish that control to other sources and in turn make the slaves the Masters. It is time to take back that power, extinguish the false blinding light and once again become the Masters instead of the slaves, while we think that it is fun to merrily run around drunk on lies. An integral part of the Jesus story is his resurrection or ‘rebirth’. Since the birth was placed on the 25th of December, also the birth of the celestial Sun, it wasn’t until months later when the length of a day over took that of a night that Jesus was resurrected out of the tomb he was encapsulated in for three days. This time became known as Easter, which stems from much older names associated with the goddess.
